Witch's Mark Etched Copper & Agate Earrings | Long Dangle Earrings
Esoterica Collection | Studio Henbane
Ancient symbols, dark stones, and copper shaped by hand.
Inspired by the protective markings and folk traditions of historic witchcraft, these dramatic statement earrings feature hand-etched copper pendants decorated with intersecting, branchlike symbols reminiscent of historic apotropaic marks, commonly called witch marks.
Suspended beneath each etched copper pendant are three graduated strands of polished banded agate gemstones, individually connected with hand-wrapped copper links. The natural stones display a rich, earthy palette of smoky black, chocolate brown, translucent amber, and soft gray. Delicate cream-colored bands, layered striations, and subtle variations in color give each gemstone its own distinctive character.
Small faceted copper-colored accent beads complement the warm metalwork, while the dark, naturally patterned agates create depth and movement throughout the dangling strands.
The etched copper panels feature a darkened background that brings the intricate markings into relief, giving the earrings the appearance of small, timeworn artifacts. Oversized handmade copper ear hooks complete the design.
Part of Studio Henbane's Esoterica Collection, these earrings explore the intersection of historic symbolism, folk traditions, and contemporary handcrafted adornment.

About the Design
Witch marks, sometimes called apotropaic marks, were historically inscribed on buildings and objects in an effort to ward off misfortune or harmful supernatural influences. This design draws inspiration from that tradition, reinterpreting the visual language of protective markings through etched copper and natural stone.
Each pair is individually handcrafted. Variations in the agates' natural banding, translucency, and coloration make every piece unique.
